Significant Progress in Blowout Control Operations at ONGC’s Well Mori#5

ONGC’s Crisis Management Team is executing operations strictly in line with the approved blowout control plan

Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) has achieved significant progress in blowout control operations at Well Mori#5, operated by PEC contractor M/s Deep Industries, with field conditions steadily stabilising.

According to an official update, ONGC’s Crisis Management Team is executing operations strictly in line with the approved blowout control plan. The intensity of the fire, noise levels and ambient heat in the vicinity of the well have reduced substantially, marking a critical milestone in containment efforts.

To facilitate systematic debris clearance, an approach road from the rear end of the wellsite has been completed. Required logistics have also been mobilised, enabling controlled and phased removal of debris around the wellhead area.

ONGC has further established a water blanket at the wellsite, ensuring safe continuation of debris removal operations and paving the way for the subsequent capping of the wellhead, in accordance with the planned action framework.

In view of the steady progress and the remote likelihood of escalation, the district administration has advised residents in surrounding areas to resume normal activities, providing relief to the local community affected by the incident.

ONGC reiterated that the safety of the community and protection of the environment remain its highest priorities, and that all actions are being undertaken in strict compliance with regulatory norms and globally accepted industry best practices.
