ONGC Promotes Inclusiveness through 7th Para Games in Delhi

Employee-athletes from IOCL, HPCL, BPCL, EIL, GAIL, OIL and MRPL are participating alongside ONGC athletes

State-run energy major Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) on Wednesday inaugurated the 7th ONGC Para Games 2026 at Thyagaraj Stadium, bringing together nearly 300 Divyang athletes from eight oil and gas Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) in a celebration of inclusiveness, resilience and sporting excellence.

Hosted by ONGC, the multi-discipline event reflects the oil and gas PSU fraternity’s collective commitment to creating enabling platforms that recognize ability, promote dignity and strengthen workplace inclusivity. Employee-athletes from Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, Engineers India Limited, GAIL (India) Limited, Oil India Limited and Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited are participating alongside ONGC athletes.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Pankaj Kumar, Director (Production), ONGC, said the Para Games symbolize the shared commitment of oil PSUs to recognize and celebrate the special abilities of their Divyang colleagues. He noted that in a sector driven by teamwork, precision and resilience, inclusion is not merely a value but a strength that enhances organizational performance.

Rajarshi Gupta, Managing Director of ONGC Videsh Ltd (OVL), praised the determination and spirit of the participants, emphasizing that perseverance and continuous effort define true strength. Manish Patil, Director (HR), ONGC, highlighted the role of sports in character building and described the Games as a powerful enabler of participation and inclusivity. He added that the steady expansion of the Para Games since their inception in 2017 demonstrates how inclusive initiatives can foster confidence, belonging and aspiration among employees.

The 2026 edition features competitions in athletics, badminton, table tennis and wheelchair races across multiple para-sport classifications, including hearing and speech impairment, upper and lower limb conditions, visual impairment and wheelchair categories. Several national and international para-sportspersons are also taking part, adding competitive depth to the event.

Over the years, the ONGC Para Games have evolved into a flagship national-level initiative, providing Divyang employees with a structured competitive platform aligned with recognized sporting standards while promoting wellbeing, confidence and organizational belonging.
