ONGC Issues Public Notice Against Fraudulent Use of Its Name

Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) has issued a public notice cautioning the general public and all stakeholders against an unauthorized entity operating under the name “ONGC INDIA”, which is falsely claiming association with the Maharatna PSU.

In its advisory, ONGC clarified that the entity using the name “ONGC INDIA” has no relationship, affiliation or connection whatsoever with Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited, its subsidiaries or any Group companies. The corporation stated that the use of its name and related representations is unauthorized and appears to be carried out with malafide intent to mislead stakeholders and secure wrongful gains.

The public sector oil major has urged government authorities, vendors, contractors, banks, financial institutions and other stakeholders to immediately refrain from engaging with the said entity or with any individual or organisation claiming association with ONGC under the disputed name. ONGC has categorically stated that any transactions or dealings undertaken with such entities shall be entirely at the risk and cost of the concerned parties, and the corporation will not be liable for any losses or damages arising from such engagements.

ONGC has also requested individuals or organisations who may have encountered or entered into dealings with the unauthorized entity to report the matter to the corporation along with relevant documentary evidence. This, ONGC said, would enable it to take appropriate action in accordance with the law.

The company further asserted that it reserves the right to initiate stringent civil and criminal proceedings against the entity “ONGC INDIA” and all other persons involved in acts of impersonation, misrepresentation, cheating and fraud.
