Ordnance Factory Employees Demand Government Employee Status Till Retirement
Government of India on 9th September 24 issued Orders for extending the deemed deputation of the 41 Ordnance Factory Employees up to 31/12/2025
The deemed deputation period was coming to an end on 30th of September, 2024, and there were lot of apprehension in the minds of the employees about their future. The employees of Ordnance Factories after the bitter experience of the employees of BSNL after getting absorbed in the Company have made up their mind to not join the 7 Ordnance Factories Corporations.
Now that the Government have issued the orders for extension of the deemed deputation period up to 31/12/25, www.indianpsu.com approached C. Srikumar General Secretary of AIDEF and asked his view about the Govt decision and what’s their future course of action. He questioned that what’s the option available with the Government, since the employees wanted to remain as Central Govt Employees till their retirement. But why government in piecemeal extending the deemed deputation. Having Committed in the Madras High Court in the Writ Petition filed by AIDEF that the employees unless they themselves opt to join the Companies, they will remain as Central Government Employees, the Government should have straight away published a notification retaining the status of the employees of Ordnance Factories as Central Government Employees/Defence Civilian Employees till their retirement. In fact we continue to fight that Government should withdraw the corporatization decision and restore the status as Ordnance Factory Board.
Corporatization is a failed Experiment. So why Govt should continue with this experiment, 3 years is a long period for the Government to learn. A prestigious Defence Industry of our Country should not be ruined. Ordnance Factories are National Assets. AIDEF is relentlessly fighting to change the Govt decision and we are confident that the Govt will realize that it was a decision taken on some wrong advises and it has neither benefitted the Country nor the employees. All those Officers who were instrumental in architecting the corporatization exercise are nowhere in the MOD and neither they were made accountable nor responsible, including the consultants, concluded C.Srikumar.
