Pawan Hans Chopper Service inaugurated in Dehradun
Union Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and Uttaranchal Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat on Wednesday launched the Dehradun-New Tehri-Srinagar-Gaucher Heli service under the RCS UDAN scheme. This service has been started by Pawan Hans Limited, A Public Sector Undertaking of the government of India.
Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat said that the Heli services being run under the Udaan scheme are being well appreciated by the locals. He said that it is a matter of pride that this service launched by Pawan Hans Limited, would be operational on every Monday, Wednesday and Friday of the week.
He said that the UDAN scheme provides air connectivity from dozens of cities to Dehradun. Direct air service from Hindon, Ghaziabad to Pithoragarh has been started. 27 heliports have been developed in the state. Dehradun has been linked with Pantnagar, Pithoragarh, Chinyalisaur and Gauchar under the regional connectivity scheme. Pantnagar Airport is also being developed as a green field.
Chief Minister Trivendra requested Union Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri to start the service for Haldwani-Almora-Dharchula on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. There is a need to start heli services in Guptkashi and Barkot in view of Chardham Yatra. He said that heli service should also be started for Harshil, this will facilitate the passengers going to Gangotri. The natural beauty of Harshil attracts tourists.
Union Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri extended best wishes to the people of the state on the commencement of the Dehradun-New Tehri-Srinagar-Gauchar air service under UDAN scheme. He said that the Chief Minister Trivendra has suggested to start heli-service for new travel routes under Udaan service. A decision will be taken soon after meeting it with the Chief Minister.
On this occasion, the Minister of Higher Education and Cooperation, Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, Secretary Civil Aviation, Government of India Shri Pradeep Singh Kharola, CMD Pawan Hans Limited Shri Sanjeev Razdan were also present.
