PESB Likely to Hold CMD Interview for Engineers India Limited in Third Week of November

The present CMD of EIL, Ms. Vartika Shukla who was selected on selected for this post on 23.04.2021, superannuates on 28.02.2026

According to internal sources at the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB), interviews for the post of Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Engineers India Limited (EIL) are likely to be held in the third week of November 2025. Mallika Srinivasan, Chairperson of the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) is set to retire on November 18, 2025, and industry sources said that this is one reason that the interview for the top post could be conducted before this date, though the final date of interview is still to be announced.

The list of key contenders includes senior executives from both EIL and other major Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs):

  • Deepak Gupta, Director (Projects), GAIL (India) Limited
  • Atul Gupta, Director (Commercial), EIL
  • Rupesh Kumar Singh, Director (Human Resources), EIL
  • Upendra Kumar Verma, Executive Director (Technical), EIL
  • Dronamraju Sreeman Narayana Murthy, Executive Director, EIL
  • K.Y. Malleshwarappa, Executive Director, EIL
  • Rajesh Kumar Singh, Chairman & Managing Director, Bridge & Roof Company (India) Limited
  • Ajay Tripathi, Executive Director (PC-O&M), GAIL (India) Limited
  • Manoj Kumar Sharma, Executive Director & Regional Head, Indian Oil Corporation Limited
  • Dr. Ajit Kumar Thakur, Executive Director (Alternate Energy), Indian Oil Corporation Limited
  • Dr. Pudi Hariprasad, Chief Administration Officer (Treasury & Reconciliation), Indian Railways Accounts Service

Several of the external contenders bring diverse leadership experience across India’s energy, infrastructure, and industrial sectors.

Interestingly, the lack of clarity regarding the continuation of the Director (Pipelines) post at Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) has prompted several senior Executive Directors to explore leadership opportunities in smaller PSUs — a trend that may work to EIL’s advantage, as it brings in a wider pool of highly experienced talent.

The upcoming PESB interview is expected to be closely watched by industry observers, given EIL’s strategic role in engineering consultancy, energy infrastructure, and project management across India and abroad.
