PESB Recommends Manoj Kumar Agarwal As New CMD Of BCCL
The present CMD Samiran Dutta will superannuate on August 31, 2025

Public sector headhunter, the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB), has recommended the name of Manoj Kumar Agarwal for the post of Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL). He is presently serving as Director (Technical – Project & Planning) at the company.
Agarwal took charge as Director (Technical) on January 27, 2025, and has since been spearheading key technical and planning functions. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering from the prestigious Indian School of Mines (ISM), Dhanbad, and an Executive MBA from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ranchi. He also holds a Manager’s First Class Certificate of Competency to manage coal mines, an essential qualification in the coal mining sector.
At BCCL, Agarwal is responsible for overseeing vital departments including planning and project, E&T and IT, safety and rescue, geology and drilling, quality control, industrial engineering, environment, and civil industrial and Block E OCP. He also supervises operations across several key coalfields—Barora, Block-II, Govindpur, Sijua, Katras, and CV Area.
Before joining BCCL, Agarwal served with Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) and Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), gaining extensive experience across India’s coal mining operations.
His appointment as CMD will take effect following requisite approvals and clearances.
