The PSB reinforces commitment to sports development

Punjab National Bank (PNB), one of India’s leading public sector banks, on Tuesday inaugurated its revamped Hockey Academy in Delhi, reaffirming its long-standing commitment to the promotion of hockey and the nurturing of young sporting talent in the country.
The state-of-the-art academy, located at Mukherjee Nagar, was inaugurated by Ashok Chandra, Managing Director & CEO, PNB, in the presence of senior bank officials, coaches, and players of the senior hockey team.
World-Class Training Ecosystem for Young Talent
PNB’s Hockey Academy has been upgraded into a premium high-performance training centre, aimed at identifying, training, and grooming 25 young hockey players in the 14–17 age group.
The academy offers a holistic development model, providing:
- Professional hockey coaching
- Residential lodging
- Formal education support
- Nutrition and fitness facilities
- Career progression pathways through sports
The initiative is designed to ensure not only sporting excellence but also the overall development and long-term career stability of young athletes.
PNB’s Growing Legacy in Indian Hockey
Highlighting the success of PNB’s sustained investment in sports, two PNB employees and key forwards of the Indian Hockey Team — Olympian and Arjuna Awardee Abhishek and Sukhjeet Singh — recently brought laurels to the nation at the Asia Cup 2025.
Several players groomed at the PNB Hockey Academy have gone on to represent the bank with distinction. Notable names include Lovepreet Singh, Sanjay, and Inderpal Singh, who are currently integral members of PNB’s Hockey Team.
Strengthening PSU Role in Sports Promotion
Through initiatives like the revamped Hockey Academy, Punjab National Bank continues to strengthen the role of Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) in nation-building beyond banking—by contributing to sports development, youth empowerment, and India’s global sporting aspirations.
