PNB Pays Tribute To National Heroes Through Rakshak Plus Scheme
Family of Martyr Lance Naik Jitendra Kumar Yadav receives ₹1 crore under PNB’s initiative for defence personnel

Reaffirming its deep commitment to the brave hearts who serve the nation, Punjab National Bank (PNB), India’s leading public sector bank, disbursed a financial aid of ₹1 crore to the family of Martyr Lance Naik Jitendra Kumar Yadav. A resident of Jagdara village in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh, Lance Naik Yadav tragically lost his life in an accident while on duty. The solemn event took place at Sikandarpur, Ballia, honouring his supreme sacrifice.
Ballia District Magistrate, Praveen Kumar Laxkar, while handing over the cheque, remarked, “There is no compensation for the life of a soldier. But when institutions like Punjab National Bank step forward to support the families of martyrs, it sends a powerful message—that we must stand with those who protect us.”
Speaking on the occasion, Bibhu P. Mahapatra, Executive Director, PNB, said, “At PNB, our commitment goes beyond financial services—it is rooted in a profound respect for the nation and those who defend it. The Rakshak Plus Scheme is a reflection of our unwavering support for uniformed personnel. This assistance to the family of Martyr Lance Naik Jitendra Kumar Yadav is not just financial aid; it is a heartfelt tribute to his sacrifice and a reminder that the nation honours and remembers its heroes.”
PNB’s Rakshak Plus Scheme has become a symbol of gratitude and responsibility towards India’s defence and uniformed forces. The scheme offers personal accidental insurance of ₹1 crore for death or permanent total disability, and ₹1.5 crore in case of air accident deaths. It also includes partial disability coverage and a range of comprehensive benefits designed to meet the unique needs of defence and security personnel.
The scheme covers a wide range of uniformed services, including personnel from the Army, Navy, Air Force, CRPF, BSF, CISF, ITBP, SSB, Agniveers, Indian Coast Guard, State and Metro Police, RAW, IB, CBI, RPF, NSG, SPG, NDRF, firefighters, trainees, and Gentlemen Cadets.
In 2025 alone, several families of martyrs from states including Uttar Pradesh and Telangana have benefitted from the Rakshak Plus Scheme, further reinforcing PNB’s enduring commitment to the nation’s defence community.
