RINL-WIPS Forum Celebrates International Women’s Day At RINL

Parents should regularly interact with children to ensure their safety and well-being : Smt G. Anandi, Special Judge

As part of the International women’s day celebrations, WIPS in RINL has organized, an essential session on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and Child Rights, focusing on legal frameworks and the roles of educators and institutions in child safety at Dr. Tenneti Viswanadham auditorium, Learning & Development centre of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, today.

The Session was addressed by Smt. G. Anandi, Special Judge for Trial of Offences under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) Court, Visakhapatnam. In her address, the guest speaker, Mrs. G. Anandi clearly explained about POCSO Act Overview, Juvenile Justice System and other important points. She also sensitized children and their parents in specific, to safeguard children against sexual abuse, sexual harassment, and pornography.

Parents should pay attention in bringing up of children to ensure that they become a healthy citizen.

Stating that the women are the backbone of any family, Mrs. G. Anandi advised the women to pay attention to their health and wellbeing. She urged both the children and the parents to freely communicate with each other every day on any issue which will ensure the safety of the children. The event concluded with an engaging Q&A session, where Smt G.Anandi answered questions from students, offering practical guidance on identifying, preventing, and responding to cases of child abuse. Her responses provided a deeper understanding of the legal mechanisms and proactive steps individuals and institutions can take.

Mrs. G. Anandi was felicitated by the WIPS- Committee on the occasion.

Earlier in her welcome address, the chief guest, Smt N. Bhanu, GM(HR) & President- WIPS-RINL, expressed gratitude to the eminent guest speaker, and all the attendees for gathering to support this vital cause.

Dr. G Seshamma, DGM (QATD) & Coordinator- WIPS-RINL highlighted about various activities that were organized by WIPS-RINL for the welfare of the working women and housewives.

Ms. G. Jayadevi, Project director, women and child welfare department, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh, Ms. MRL Radha, Chairperson, Child welfare Committee, Child welfare department, WIPS- Committee members, a large number of women and students along with their parents attended the program.
