SAIL Records Highest-Ever December Sales; Sustains Strong Growth in April–December FY26
The record-breaking performance was achieved across multiple product categories and sales channels

Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), the Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise and one of India’s leading steel producers, has recorded its highest-ever sales volume for the month of December, marking a significant milestone in its operational performance.
According to provisional figures released by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), SAIL clocked sales of 2.1 million tonnes (MT) in December 2025, registering a robust growth of around 37 per cent over 1.5 MT sold in December 2024. This is the best December performance in the company’s history.
The record-breaking performance was achieved across multiple product categories and sales channels, supported by substantial inventory reduction and a sustained focus on timely customer deliveries. SAIL has also stepped up its branding and market outreach initiatives, contributing to improved market traction.
Strong Growth Momentum in FY26
The strong December performance enabled SAIL to maintain its growth momentum during FY 2025–26. Cumulative sales during April–December 2025 stood at 14.7 MT (provisional), reflecting a year-on-year growth of approximately 17 per cent, compared to 12.6 MT during the corresponding period last year (CPLY).
In addition to domestic market strength, export volumes witnessed a sharp rise, highlighting SAIL’s expanding global footprint and improving competitiveness in international markets.
Reinforcing Market Leadership
The sustained improvement in sales performance underscores SAIL’s enhanced market presence, customer-centric approach, and operational efficiencies. The company’s record achievements across both domestic and overseas markets reinforce its leadership position within India’s steel sector and are expected to further strengthen its standing among top global steel producers.
