Shyam Metalics Enters Crash Barrier Manufacturing to Support Road and Rail Safety
Aims for 8–10% market share in FY 2025–26 | ₹50 crore Sambalpur facility to add 60 KTPA | Further ₹50 crore expansion planned at Giridih in FY 2026–27

Shyam Metalics, one of India’s leading integrated metal producers, has announced its strategic entry into the crash barrier segment, targeting a market share of 8–10% in FY 2025–26. Production has commenced at its Giridih facility, equipped with an annual capacity of 24,000 MT and supported by over 150 skilled professionals.
With India’s infrastructure push driving an estimated 25% annual growth in crash barrier demand, Shyam Metalics is well-positioned to capture new opportunities. A new crash barrier manufacturing facility is planned at Sambalpur with an investment of ₹50 crore and a capacity of 60 KTPA to serve South and West India. Additionally, in FY 2026–27, the company plans a second phase of expansion at Giridih with another ₹50 crore investment, diversifying into Transmission Line Towers, Railway Electrification Structures, Solar Panel Structures, Lighting Poles, and more.
The Giridih plant, operational since 2014, began producing crash barriers in August 2025. Running 24×7, it ensures quick turnaround and adherence to IS and global quality standards, including galvanization for durability. Its portfolio includes W Metal Beam Crash Barriers, Thrie Metal Beam Crash Barriers, and W Beam Railway Guard Rails, catering to major projects of Indian Railways and National Highways.
Commenting on the milestone, Mr. Brij Bhushan Agarwal, Chairman & Managing Director, Shyam Metalics, said: “The launch of our crash barrier unit marks a significant step in strengthening India’s road and railway safety. With a 24,000 MT annual capacity and a team of 150 professionals, we are confident of achieving an 8–10% market share in the coming fiscal. This business alone could add nearly 50% more value to our Giridih operations in the next few years. As India’s infrastructure spending accelerates, we remain committed to building a safer, stronger, and more self-reliant nation.”
Currently, Shyam Metalics is supplying crash barriers to Indian Railways and National Highways projects. Over the next fiscal year, the company also intends to explore export opportunities in the Middle East, Europe, and Africa.
