A tragic accident occurred at the NTPC power plant in Sipat, Bilaspur district of Chhattisgarh, on Wednesday, leaving five contract workers injured. The incident took place in Unit 5 of the plant when an industrial trolley reportedly collapsed, trapping workers underneath.

Emergency response teams were immediately deployed to the site and managed to rescue all affected individuals. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital, where they are currently undergoing medical treatment.

In an official statement, Praveen Ranjan Bharti, Public Relations Officer of NTPC Sipat, confirmed the incident and said: “An incident has been reported in Unit 5 of NTPC Sipat station, resulting in injuries to five contractual workers. All the injured individuals are receiving appropriate medical treatment. The exact cause of the incident is currently under investigation. A detailed report will be shared upon completion of the inquiry.”

Authorities have launched a thorough probe into the accident to ascertain the cause and assess whether there were any lapses in safety protocols. NTPC officials have assured that all necessary steps will be taken to prevent such occurrences in the future.
