Trainee IAS Officers Visit BCCL Mining Areas Under Jharkhand State Tour Programme
Trainee officers also visited Belgarhia Township, developed under the Jharia Rehabilitation Scheme

Under the Jharkhand State Tour Programme (December 31, 2025 to January 2, 2026), a group of 10 trainee Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers of the 2025 batch today undertook an extensive field visit to Bharat Coking Coal Limited’s (BCCL) Block-II mining area, including Munidih and Aina Collieries.
During the visit, the officer trainees were given a comprehensive overview of the coal production process, technical systems of mine operations, environmental protection measures, worker safety management, rehabilitation initiatives, and corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities undertaken by BCCL. The trainees also observed underground and surface mining operations, the deployment of modern mining machinery, and strict adherence to safety standards at operational sites.

Senior BCCL officials present on the occasion included Regional General Manager (Block-II) Mr. Kumar Ranjeev, Regional General Manager (Kusunda) Mr. Nikhil Trivedi, along with other senior officers and staff. The officials briefed the trainees on BCCL’s operational structure, key mining challenges, and the company’s sustained commitment to safe and sustainable mining practices.
Earlier in the day, the 10-member trainee team arrived in Dhanbad from Bokaro by road and paid a courtesy visit to the District Collectorate, where they met Deputy Commissioner Mr. Aditya Ranjan. The Deputy Commissioner shared insights into the administrative functioning of the district, challenges linked to the mining sector, and ongoing development initiatives.
Subsequently, the trainee officers visited Belgarhia Township, developed under the Jharia Rehabilitation Scheme. They reviewed residential, social, and basic infrastructure facilities created jointly by the District Administration and BCCL for the rehabilitation of displaced families under the revised Jharia Master Plan. The officers also toured the Administrative Block, Shopping Centre, and Multi-Skill Development Institute established by BCCL in the township.
During the programme, District Mining Officer Mr. Ritesh Tigga, Senior Manager (Mining), BCCL Mr. Radheshyam Dubey, and several officers from the district administration and BCCL were present and interacted with the trainee officers.
