TruAlt Bioenergy Signs MoU to Set Up One of the World’s Largest SAF Manufacturing Facilities in Andhra Pradesh
₹2,250 crore investment to establish 80,000 TPA ethanol-to-SAF plant; over 2,500 jobs expected

TruAlt Bioenergy Limited (TruAlt), India’s largest ethanol producer and one of the country’s fastest-growing biofuels companies, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board (APEDB) to develop one of the world’s largest Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) manufacturing facilities in Andhra Pradesh. The proposed 80,000 TPA (tons per annum) plant will be set up in the Srikakulam–Vizianagaram region.
Under the MoU, TruAlt Bioenergy will invest approximately ₹2,250 crore in establishing a fully integrated ethanol-to-SAF facility. The project is expected to generate over 500 direct jobs and nearly 2,000 indirect jobs, boosting local economic activity, strengthening allied sectors, and contributing to regional industrial growth.
TruAlt will leverage its status as India’s largest ethanol producer to ensure consistent, high-quality feedstock for the project. The facility will employ the Alcohol-to-Jet Synthetic Paraffinic Kerosene (ATJ-SPK) pathway — an ICAO-approved SAF production route. In this process, sugar-based feedstock is converted into ethanol, which is then upgraded into certified aviation-grade jet fuel. Through this advanced technology, the company aims to supply low-emission, globally certified SAF, building a competitive, large-scale supply chain rooted in India’s agricultural and bio-based strengths.
Speaking about the development, Vijay Nirani, Managing Director, TruAlt Bioenergy, said: “This MoU marks a defining moment in India’s clean-energy transition and in TruAlt Bioenergy’s journey of innovation and impact. Sustainable Aviation Fuel is no longer a future possibility; it is an urgent global necessity. By establishing one of the world’s largest ethanol-to-SAF facilities in Andhra Pradesh, we are taking a decisive step toward enabling low-carbon aviation at scale in one of the world’s most hard-to-abate sectors.”
He added that India has already outlined its SAF blending mandate, and TruAlt is prepared to play a central role in helping the country achieve its decarbonisation targets.
“As India’s largest ethanol producer, we are uniquely positioned to integrate our feedstock strength with world-class ATJ-SPK technology and build a reliable, future-ready SAF ecosystem. We are honoured to partner with the Government of Andhra Pradesh in advancing this national and global decarbonisation mandate.”
This initiative underscores TruAlt Bioenergy’s commitment to accelerating India’s energy transition and developing scalable, sustainable solutions for sectors that are otherwise difficult to decarbonise. With this landmark SAF facility, TruAlt aims to position India as a global leader in sustainable aviation fuels, supporting the nation’s net-zero aspirations and enabling a greener future for the aviation sector.
