A two-day workshop on Central Ground Water Authority (CGWA) guidelines and compliances commenced today at the Sangam Auditorium, Gangotri Convention Center, Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) Headquarters, Ranchi. Organized by the Environment Department of CCL, the workshop saw the participation of around 130 officials from CCL, BCCL, ECL, and CMPDI—subsidiaries of Coal India Limited (CIL) operating in Jharkhand.

The inaugural session was graced by CCL Director (Finance) Pawan Kumar Mishra, Director (HR) Harsh Nath Mishra, Director (Technical/Operations) Chandra Shekhar Tiwari, Director (Planning & Projects) Shankar Nagachari, and Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) Pankaj Kumar. They extended a warm welcome to the officials from the Central Ground Water Authority, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Central Ground Water Board, Ranchi, and the Rajiv Gandhi National Ground Water Training and Research Institute (RGNGWTRI), Raipur.

In their addresses, speakers emphasized the coal industry’s alignment with CGWA’s vision of responsible mining practices, sustainable groundwater management, conservation, and strict compliance with guidelines.

The primary objective of the workshop is to sensitize officers about CGWA provisions, compliance requirements, and penalties for non-adherence, while also offering practical guidance on streamlining NOC proposals. The first day concluded with detailed discussions on compliance mechanisms and the self-inspection process.
