Union Minister G Kishan Reddy Launches C CARES Version 2.0 Portal For CMPFO

Coal Mines Provident Fund Organization (CMPFO) is an autonomous organization under the aegis of Ministry of Coal

Union Minister of Coal and Mines, G Kishan Reddy, today launched C CARES Version 2.0, an upgraded web portal of the Coal Mines Provident Fund Organization (CMPFO). The platform, developed by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), aims to enhance efficiency and transparency in Provident Fund and Pension disbursements for coal sector workers.

The launch event was attended by Secretary, Ministry of Coal, Vikram Dev Dutt, Additional Secretary Smt Rupinder Brar, and senior officials from the Ministry and CMPFO.

Established in 1948, CMPFO is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Coal that manages PF and pension schemes for nearly 3.3 lakh subscribers and 6.3 lakh pensioners in the coal sector.

The upgraded portal brings together coal workers, coal companies, and CMPFO on a unified digital platform, enabling real-time tracking of claims, automated ledger updates, and direct benefit transfers to workers’ accounts. The system, developed with support from State Bank of India, promises faster claim settlements, improved service delivery, and greater ease of access.

Speaking at the launch, Minister G Kishan Reddy said, “C CARES 2.0 is a step towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Minimum Government, Maximum Governance’ and Digital India. This portal promotes transparency, accessibility, and convenience for coal workers.” He also urged the ministry to ensure regular updates to the platform, incorporating feedback from the workforce.

CMPFO’s Secretary Vikram Dev Dutt emphasized that the initiative reflects the government’s strong commitment to the welfare of coal workers. Additional Secretary Smt Rupinder Brar commended the C-DAC team for completing the project in a short timeframe.

Initially, the system has been rolled out in five regional offices: Godavarikhani and Kothagudem (SCCL), Asansol-I (ECL), Bilaspur (SECL), and Nagpur (WCL). A pan-India rollout is scheduled from July 1, 2025.

The platform also includes a mobile application for CMPF members, allowing them to view profiles, track claims, raise grievances, and check PF balances. The app features a chatbot assistant for easy navigation and information retrieval.

For coal companies and CMPFO, the system offers a prescriptive dashboard that generates custom reports, analyzes claim settlement trends, and supports data-driven decision-making to improve efficiency.

With the launch of C CARES 2.0, the Ministry of Coal has taken a significant leap toward digital empowerment and social security for India’s coal workforce.
