"Only credibility, hard work, and the desire to learn can propel you forward," said Gadkari

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari and Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the 12th convocation ceremony of Graphic Era Deemed University held in Dehradun. The event witnessed the conferring of Ph.D. degrees to research scholars, and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari was also awarded an honorary Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) degree in recognition of his contributions to infrastructure development.

Speaking at the event, Gadkari extended his congratulations to the graduating students, emphasizing that their degrees reflect not only academic excellence but also responsibility towards nation-building. “India is blessed with the world’s largest pool of young, skilled, and talented human resources. These youth are our strength and wealth creators,” he said, adding that the focus should be on “becoming job providers, not job seekers.”

He encouraged students to dream big and pursue their goals with integrity, honesty, and dedication. “Only credibility, hard work, and the desire to learn can propel you forward,” he stated.

The Union Minister highlighted India’s achievements in infrastructure, particularly in roads, bridges, tunnels, and highways. He also spoke about the government’s commitment to green energy, mentioning the progress being made in hydrogen fuel derived from municipal waste. “I use a hydrogen-powered car myself,” he shared.

Gadkari noted that India is emerging as a global leader in startups and innovation, underlined by the fact that several CEOs of global corporations are of Indian origin. He also stressed the importance of enhancing the Domestic Happiness Index alongside economic development.

Welcoming the Union Minister, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami described him as the “Vishwakarma of modern India” for revolutionizing the country’s infrastructure. He praised the rapid development of expressways, green corridors, and logistics hubs under Shri Gadkari’s leadership.

The Chief Minister called upon youth to use their education and skills to contribute to “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India). Highlighting the state’s initiatives, he noted that Uttarakhand is making strides in education and innovation under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “Implementation of the New Education Policy (NEP) has led to the introduction of modern courses like AI, Machine Learning, and Big Data in state institutions,” he said.

He also mentioned the establishment of science centers in Dehradun, Haldwani, and Almora, as well as incubation centers to foster innovation and support startups. The Chief Minister emphasized the state’s success in implementing India’s strictest anti-copying law, which has facilitated government jobs for over 23,000 youth in the past three years.

The convocation ceremony was also attended by Higher Education Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, Rajya Sabha MP Mahendra Bhatt, MLA Munna Singh Chauhan, Graphic Era Chairman Prof. Kamal Ghanshala, Chancellor and NITI Aayog Member Dr. V.K. Saraswat, and Vice Chancellor Prof. Narpinder Singh.
