Uttarakhand CM Dhami Inaugurates Maa Nanda Devi Mela-2025; Announces Major Development Works for Almora
Government pushes cultural revival, healthcare expansion, and local livelihood promotion in Kumaon region

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami today inaugurated the Maa Nanda Devi Mela-2025 of Almora through virtual medium. Extending greetings to the people of Almora and the state, he said the fair is not just a religious event but also a platform for economic, cultural, and social empowerment. He added that preparations have begun for the Maa Nanda Raj Jat Yatra 2026, which will be celebrated in a grand manner.

Cultural & Religious Heritage
- ₹146 crore approved for beautification of Jageshwar Dham under Manaskhand Parvat Mala Mission; second phase works sanctioned.
- Reconstruction of Maa Nanda Devi Temple in traditional Kumaoni hill style.
- Establishment of Nanda Devi Handicraft Village in Dinapani, promoting Aipan art, copper items, woodcraft, and women-led enterprises.
Healthcare
- 50-bed critical care block being established in Almora.
- Upgradation of Almora Women’s Hospital with ₹5 crore.
- New Base Hospital building and expansion of Someshwar Sub-District Hospital.
- Drug de-addiction centre established in Almora.
Infrastructure & Connectivity
- 248 km rural roads constructed in Almora in the last 3 years.
- Almora–Pauri Garhwal–Rudraprayag road completed at ₹400 crore.
- Widening of Almora–Bageshwar road sanctioned at ₹922 crore.
- Heli services started under Udaan Yojana; helipad planned at Chaukhutia near Dol Ashram.
- Parking projects at 25+ locations; lift irrigation scheme of ₹12 crore in Sadi Mahar village.
Livelihood & Local Economy
- ‘One District, Two Products’ scheme, House of Himalayas brand, State Millet Mission, Farm Machinery Bank, Apple Mission, and Homestay/Film Policy boosting self-reliance and local entrepreneurship.
- Products from Nanda Devi Handicraft Village to be linked with national and international markets.
Governance & Law
- Strict anti-conversion, anti-riot, and land mafia laws implemented.
- Over 6,500 acres of encroached government land freed; 250 illegal madrasas sealed, 500+ illegal structures removed.
- Government to abolish Madrasa Board by July 2026; only state curriculum to be taught thereafter.
