Uttarakhand CM Inaugurates ‘House of Himalayas’ Outlet In New Delhi
Uttarakhand’s Traditional Heritage and Organic Products Get a National Platform

Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the much-anticipated ‘House of Himalayas’ outlet at the Uttarakhand Niwas Complex in the national capital on Tuesday. This dedicated retail space is poised to become a significant platform for showcasing the traditional heritage, cultural richness, and organic products of Uttarakhand in a systematic and organized manner.
Speaking at the inauguration, the Chief Minister emphasized that the initiative is part of the state government’s broader vision to bring global recognition to the unique, handmade, and natural products from the hilly regions of Uttarakhand. “This step will not only strengthen the rural economy but also provide meaningful opportunities to local artisans and craftsmen,” he said.

Promoting Culture Through Pilgrimage and Tourism
In a bid to boost sales and awareness of local products, especially during the Chardham Yatra season, the state has established attractive floor-standing units and retail carts at over 13 prominent pilgrimage and tourist sites.
These include:
- Airports & Helipads: Naini Saini Airport, Pantnagar Airport, and Dehradun Helipad
- Pilgrimage Sites: Kedarnath, Badrinath, Harshil, Guptkashi, Kaudiyala, Parmarth Niketan (Rishikesh)
- Tourist Destinations: Mussoorie, Snow Crest (Badrinath), ATI (Nainital), and Centria Mall
Retail carts are also being set up at prestigious institutions and hotels such as Marriott Mussoorie, Taj Dehradun, Forest Research Institute (FRI), Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), and Delhi Haat. These kiosks are fast becoming key attractions for both domestic and international visitors.

Building a Brand: House of Himalayas
Secretary of Rural Development, Mrs. Radhika Jha, highlighted the success of the ‘House of Himalayas’ brand, noting its rapid rise in popularity due to product quality and authenticity. Its offerings—ranging from Buransh Sharbat, wild honey, mountain pulses, traditional spices, to handmade textiles—are now available on its official website and leading e-commerce platforms such as Amazon and Blinkit.
Strategic collaborations with high-end hotel chains including Taj (Rishikesh, Ramnagar), Hyatt Centric, Hyatt Regency (Dehradun), Marriott (Ramnagar), Westin (Narendranagar), and JP Group (Mussoorie) have further extended the brand’s reach. Retail carts at these luxury destinations provide tourists with easy access to Uttarakhand’s finest organic and artisanal products, directly benefiting local communities and promoting sustainable tourism.
Vision Rooted in Global Investors Summit
The idea for the ‘House of Himalayas’ was first introduced by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi during the Global Investors Summit 2023. Today, it stands as a testament to the government’s commitment to sustainable development, cultural preservation, and economic empowerment in the hill state.
The inauguration ceremony saw the presence of senior officials including Secretary Rural Development Mrs. Radhika Jha, Uttarakhand Resident Commissioner Mr. Ajay Mishra, and other dignitaries.
