Uttarakhand CM Requests Environmental Clearance For Key Hydroelectric And Tourism Projects
Union Minister of Forest, Environment and Climate Change, Bhupendra Yadav assured full cooperation on the proposals presented

On Thursday, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami met with Union Minister of Forest, Environment and Climate Change Bhupendra Yadav to seek expeditious clearances for major hydroelectric and tourism initiatives in Uttarakhand.
The CM emphasized the state’s growing power demand and dependence on external electricity sources, underlining the urgent need for new environment-friendly hydroelectric projects to boost local energy generation, create employment, and curb migration.

Key Requests:
Tyuni-Plasu Hydroelectric Project (72 MW):
Clearance sought for 47.547 hectares of land on the Tons River (a Yamuna tributary) for the project.
Sirkari Bhyol Rupasiabagd Hydroelectric Project (120 MW):
Approval requested for 29.997 hectares of forest land on the Gauriganga River—the first project of its kind in the area.
New Projects in the Kumaon Region:
Due to delays in projects on the Ganga, Dhami proposed focusing on rivers like the Yamuna, Gauriganga, and Dhauliganga for future hydro projects.
Ropeway from Triveni Ghat to Neelkanth Mahadev Temple:
Proposal submitted to the National Wildlife Board for boosting religious tourism and easing traffic congestion.
Revival of Chaurasi Kutiya (Beatles Ashram):
Support sought to enhance Rishikesh’s global image as a yoga and tourism destination.
Forest Fire Management Plan:
Special assistance of ₹404 crore requested under the CAMPA scheme to address the rising threat of forest fires.
