Uttarakhand Gears Up For Kanwar Mela 2025 As CM Dhami Reviews Preparations, Announces Dedicated Kanwar Seva App

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami conducted a high-level review meeting with senior officials at the Mela Nibandhan Bhawan in Haridwar on Thursday to assess preparations for the upcoming Kanwar Mela 2025, scheduled from July 11 to July 23. Emphasizing a safe, smooth, and environmentally responsible yatra, the Chief Minister directed officials to leave no stone unturned in making arrangements for lakhs of Kanwariyas expected to participate.

Kanwar Seva App to Enhance Pilgrim Experience
A key announcement from the review was the development of a dedicated “Uttarakhand Kanwar Seva App.” This app will host comprehensive details of registered Kanwariyas and will be designed for use during future yatras as well. It will facilitate real-time coordination, safety alerts, and better planning, thereby easing the journey for devotees.

Clean & Green Yatra a Top Priority
The Chief Minister called for this year’s yatra to convey a message of “Clean and Green Kanwar Yatra.”
- Cleanliness drives every hour along the yatra route
- Mobile toilets and special garbage disposal vehicles every 1-2 km in Haridwar, Roorkee, Rishikesh, and nearby areas
- Strict monitoring of food quality, display of food licenses, rate cards, and hotel owner details
- Zero tolerance for encroachments and overpricing by hotels or dhabas
- Safety, Health, and Crowd Management
- The CM emphasized that the Kanwar Yatra 2025 would serve as a rehearsal for the forthcoming Kumbh Mela, underlining the need for meticulous planning.
- Health posts, ambulances, and medical staff to be deployed every 2-3 km
- Night shelters, tent cities, and water ATMs to be arranged by local bodies
- CCTV and drone monitoring, GIS-based traffic planning, and an AI-enabled traffic monitoring system
- SDRF/NDRF deployment and early warning systems for rain and landslides
- Lost-and-found centers to be increased; helpline numbers to be widely publicized
- Action against misinformation spread via social media
- Traffic and Zonal Management
District Magistrate of Haridwar, Mayur Dixit, shared that the Kanwar Mela has been strategically divided into:
- 16 Super Zones
- 37 Zones
- 134 Sectors

Special traffic plans have been implemented to ease movement for local residents, Char Dham pilgrims, and Kanwar devotees separately.
