Vedanta Aluminium Secures Global #2 Rank in S&P Global CSA for Third Straight Year

Achieves highest-ever ESG score of 84/100; reinforces leadership in low-carbon aluminium and sustainable operations

Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest aluminium producer, has ranked second globally in the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) 2025 for the aluminium industry for the third consecutive year, recording its highest-ever score of 84/100. The achievement underscores the company’s sustained progress in embedding environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles at the core of its business strategy.

The S&P Global CSA is among the world’s most rigorous ESG benchmarks, assessing companies across 62 industries on their management and disclosure of material ESG risks and opportunities.
Commenting on the milestone, Priya Agarwal Hebbar, Non-Executive Director, Vedanta Limited, said sustained leadership in the CSA reflects the organisational culture being built around climate action, circularity and social stewardship, and reinforces the responsibility to continually raise performance benchmarks.

Rajiv Kumar, CEO, Vedanta Aluminium, said the consistent CSA ranking demonstrates that strong ESG performance and business competitiveness go hand in hand. He highlighted the company’s focus on energy transition, resource efficiency and low-carbon product innovation to build long-term resilience and cost advantage.

Vedanta Aluminium’s Restora and Restora Ultra—India’s first low-carbon aluminium brands—are produced using renewable energy and verified at below 4 tCO₂e per tonne, aligning with global low-carbon aluminium thresholds. These products support the company’s target of achieving a 30% low-carbon aluminium portfolio by 2030, alongside operational decarbonisation, clean-energy adoption and credible offsets.

In FY25, Vedanta Aluminium reported an 8.96% reduction in GHG intensity compared to FY21, 1.57 billion units of renewable energy consumption, 16.79 million cubic metres of water recycled, and 100% fly ash utilisation under its Waste-to-Wealth programme. The company has also undertaken restoration of 64 community water bodies, large-scale afforestation, and clean-energy initiatives for rural households.

With aluminium playing a critical role in clean energy, mobility and climate-resilient infrastructure, Vedanta Aluminium continues to position itself as a global leader in responsibly produced, low-carbon metal for India and international markets.
