Vigilance Probe Ordered Into Haridwar Municipal Corporation Land Scam

Uttarakhand CM Dhami Suspends 10 Officers Including 2 IAS; Orders Audit and Recovery

In a decisive move against corruption, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has initiated strong action in the Haridwar Municipal Corporation land scam. Following the revelations in the case, ten officers—including two IAS and one PCS officer—have been suspended with immediate effect, while the service extensions of two other personnel have been terminated.

Acting on the Chief Minister’s clear directives, the Vigilance Department will now conduct a thorough investigation into the matter to identify the entire chain of individuals involved in the scam. The CM has emphasized that transparency and accountability must be ensured at all levels.

Additionally, instructions have been issued to cancel the fraudulent sale deed related to the scam and initiate recovery proceedings against the landowners who benefited unlawfully.

A special audit has also been ordered for all works executed during the tenure of the then Municipal Commissioner Varun Chaudhary. The audit aims to uncover financial irregularities and assess the extent of administrative malpractice.

Reaffirming his government’s stance, CM Dhami reiterated, “The state government is committed to a zero-tolerance policy against corruption. No one, regardless of their position, will be spared if found guilty.”

The crackdown reflects the administration’s ongoing commitment to clean governance and its resolve to take strict punitive measures against those misusing public office.
