With the sacred month of Shravan commencing on July 11, the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government has stepped up preparations to ensure hassle-free darshan and robust security arrangements at Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham, one of the twelve revered Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva.

During Shravan, Kashi transforms into a spiritual epicenter as lakhs of Shiva devotees, particularly Kanwariyas, flock to the city to offer prayers to Baba Vishwanath. To manage the anticipated surge of pilgrims and ensure a smooth religious experience, the temple administration and district authorities have rolled out a comprehensive plan.

No Vehicle Zone and E-Rickshaw Facility

To ease pedestrian movement and enhance safety, the stretch from Maidagin to Godaulia will be converted into a No Vehicle Zone every Monday during Shravan. Special e-rickshaw services will be provided from Maidagin and Godaulia to Gate No. 4 of the temple premises, especially for elderly, specially-abled, and high-priority devotees. This initiative is aimed at facilitating mobility while keeping the area decongested.

Enhanced Surveillance and Crowd Management

According to Vishwa Bhushan Mishra, CEO of Shri Kashi Vishwanath Nyas Parishad, the temple complex has been equipped with an extensive CCTV surveillance system, with a central control room already in place for real-time monitoring.

To manage the large crowds, zig-zag barricading is being installed inside the Dham premises. This will help in streamlining foot traffic and preventing overcrowding at any single point. Additional covered sheds are also being erected to shield devotees from rain and sun, offering protection during long waiting periods.

Devotee-Centric Facilities

  • Several devotee-friendly measures are being implemented to enhance the pilgrimage experience:
  • LED screens will be set up at various points to live stream rituals from the sanctum sanctorum, allowing devotees to witness the puja even from a distance.
  • A ‘Lost & Found’ Centre will be established, manned by multilingual staff to assist visitors from different parts of India and abroad.
  • A dedicated team of medical personnel will remain on standby throughout the temple premises to handle emergencies.
  • Numerous water coolers have been installed to provide safe and chilled drinking water. Clean toilet facilities are also being maintained throughout the area.

Government’s Commitment

The Yogi government’s proactive approach reflects its commitment to providing a safe, orderly, and spiritually uplifting environment for all Shiva devotees. With a strong focus on technology, inclusivity, and comfort, authorities aim to make the 2025 Shravan Yatra a memorable and trouble-free experience.

The Shravan month will continue till August 9, during which Mondays hold special significance for Lord Shiva worship. Large crowds are expected every week, and the administration remains on high alert to ensure a smooth religious journey for every devotee visiting the Kashi Vishwanath Dham.
