MCL, WCL Clinch Team Titles on Day 2 of Coal India Inter-Company Badminton Tournament

The four-day tournament will culminate with a grand prize distribution ceremony on March 28

The second day of the Coal India Inter-Company Badminton Tournament, organized by Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL), witnessed intense competition, energetic participation, and exemplary sportsmanship at the Nehru Complex, Koyla Nagar.

Senior leadership, including CMD Manoj Agarwal, Director (HR) Murali Krishna Ramaiah, and Director (Finance) Rajesh Kumar, visited the venue, interacted with players, and encouraged them during the matches. Several senior officers and staff from Koyla Bhawan Headquarters were also present.

MCL, WCL Emerge Team Champions

The highlight of the day was the Team Championship finals in both men’s and women’s categories:

  • Men’s Final: Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) defeated Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) to clinch the title.
  • Women’s Final: Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) triumphed over Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) to secure the championship.

Veteran and Open Matches Begin

Matches in the Veteran Individual Category (45+ and 55+) and Open Individual Category also commenced, adding further excitement to the tournament.

A key highlight was the participation of senior officials from CCL:

  • Harshnath Mishra
  • P.K. Mishra

Both took to the court as players and competed enthusiastically in their respective group matches, reflecting the spirit of inclusivity and sportsmanship.

Tournament to Conclude on March 28

The four-day tournament (March 25–28) will culminate with a grand prize distribution ceremony on March 28.
