IIM Jammu Concludes Leadership Development Programme for SAIL Young Managers (Batch–II)

First phase of Batch–II programme equips SAIL’s young managers with strategic leadership skills through immersive learning at IIM Jammu

The Indian Institute of Management Jammu successfully concluded the first phase of the second edition of the Leadership Development Programme (LDP) for Young Managers (Batch–II) conducted for officials of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) on February 20, 2026.

The valedictory ceremony, held at the Vedanta MDP Centre, marked the culmination of an intensive and transformative learning journey aimed at strengthening strategic capability, leadership maturity, and measurable organizational impact among emerging leaders of the Maharatna enterprise.

The ceremony was presided over by Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean (Faculty & Research), along with Shri Sanjay Dhar, Executive Director (HR–L&D), MTI SAIL, who joined in online mode. The occasion was also graced by Prof. Rajesh Sikka, Co-Chairperson, Executive Education and Consultancy, along with programme directors Prof. P.P. Maheshwari, Dr. Manu Bansal, and Dr. Malaya Ranjan Mohapatra.

The one-year programme is structured around immersive academic engagement at IIM Jammu, followed by implementation and application phases at SAIL’s Management Training Institute. A total of 35 young managers from diverse functional domains participated in the programme.

Throughout the course, participants underwent rigorous classroom learning, case discussions, simulations, leadership laboratories, and action learning projects aligned with SAIL’s strategic priorities. During the valedictory session, select participants shared reflections on their learning journey, highlighting enhanced strategic clarity, improved decision-making capabilities, and stronger cross-functional collaboration. Many noted that the blend of theoretical insights and practical orientation enabled them to approach complex business challenges with greater confidence and analytical precision.

Set against the serene Trikuta foothills, the IIM Jammu campus provided an intellectually stimulating environment, supported by state-of-the-art infrastructure including the Vedanta MDP Centre and the Nalanda Library.

The ceremony concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Manu Bansal, Programme Director, who expressed gratitude to SAIL leadership, faculty members, coordinators, and participants for their commitment to excellence. He reaffirmed that the Executive Education and Consultancy wing of IIM Jammu remains dedicated to designing high-impact leadership interventions that contribute to nation-building by strengthening public sector enterprises.

The successful completion of the first phase of the Leadership Development Programme (Batch–II) further reinforces the enduring partnership between IIM Jammu and SAIL, reflecting a shared vision of nurturing competent, ethical, and forward-looking leaders to support India’s industrial growth trajectory.
