NTPC Bongaigaon Organises Three-Day Management Development Programme on Strategic Leadership with IIM Shillong

Programme equips mid-level executives with contemporary leadership tools to address organisational and people-centric challenges

NTPC Bongaigaon organised a three-day Management Development Programme (MDP) on “Practicing Strategic Leadership” for its mid-level executives in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Shillong from January 19 to 21, 2026.

The programme aimed at strengthening leadership capabilities and equipping executives with contemporary tools to address evolving organisational and people-centric challenges in the power sector.

The programme was inaugurated by Arnab Maitra, Head of Project, NTPC Bongaigaon, who underscored the importance of strategic leadership in today’s complex and dynamic work environment. He stated that focused capacity-building initiatives are essential for developing leaders who can align organisational objectives with innovation, empathy, and long-term sustainability.

Academic sessions were conducted by Dr. Sitanshu Shekhar Das and Dr. Priya Alat, Assistant Professors in Organisational Behaviour and Human Resources at IIM Shillong. The sessions introduced participants to contemporary leadership practices through the SMILE Framework, focusing on Strategic thinking, Motivation levels, Innovation, Learning agility, and Empathetic leadership. The faculty also discussed leadership approaches for effectively managing and engaging Gen Z and Gen Alpha in increasingly complex work environments.

A total of 23 executives from various cross-functional domains of NTPC Bongaigaon participated in the programme, enabling peer learning and exchange of professional experiences. Participants presented case studies based on real workplace scenarios and interacted with faculty on strategic decision-making, leadership challenges, and people management practices.

The programme reinforced NTPC Bongaigaon’s focus on leadership development, continuous learning, and organisational excellence.
