A one-day workshop on “Sensitization of Frontline Mining Supervisors” was successfully organized today at the headquarters of Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) in Ranchi. The workshop witnessed the active participation of 76 Overmen and Mining Sirdars from various mining areas of CCL.

The event was inaugurated by C.S. Tiwari, Director (Technical/Operations), CCL, who highlighted the critical role frontline supervisors play in maintaining a safe work environment. In his inaugural address, Shri Tiwari urged the supervisors to adopt a proactive and vigilant approach to ensure safety across mining operations.

The technical session was conducted by Binod Kumar, General Manager (Safety & Rescue), who provided an in-depth analysis of recent mine incidents and emphasized the importance of preventive safety strategies. His session focused on enhancing safety protocols and strengthening the existing safety framework.

Key safety practices such as the compulsory use of fluorescent jackets, alcohol breath analysers, seat belts in Heavy Earth Moving Machinery (HEMMs), and a zero-tolerance policy towards sleeping during duty hours were prominently discussed.

Drawing a powerful analogy, the workshop likened frontline supervisors to military captains—leaders who embody discipline, responsibility, and commitment, guiding their teams from the front lines of operational safety.

The workshop concluded with all participants taking a collective safety pledge, reaffirming their commitment to building a stronger and more effective safety culture across all CCL mining sites.
