ONGC Successfully Establishes Well Control at Mori-5 in Record Five Days

Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) has successfully established well control at Well Mori-5, completing the capping operation in a record time of five days—a significant demonstration of the Corporation’s blowout response capability and operational excellence.
The blowout occurred on 5 January 2026 during service operations being carried out by PEC contractor M/s Deep Industries Limited. ONGC immediately activated its in-house Crisis Management Framework, deploying specialised manpower, equipment, and technical expertise to ensure rapid, safe, and effective containment of the situation.
With the successful establishment of well control, this press release marks the final official communication on the Mori-5 incident, formally concluding all field-level operational updates related to the event.
ONGC conveys its sincere gratitude to the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG), the State, District, and local administrations, and the local community for their invaluable cooperation and support, which were critical to the safe and timely resolution of the incident.
