PNB Launches ‘Digi Shrestha’ Digital Loan Scheme to Boost Women-Led Rural Entrepreneurship

Digi Shrestha scheme aims to promote digital banking adoption while ensuring quick, transparent and hassle-free access to institutional credit

Punjab National Bank (PNB), one of India’s leading public sector banks, has launched the “PNB Digi Shrestha Digital Loan Scheme”, reaffirming its commitment to women’s financial empowerment ahead of International Women’s Day.

The new initiative is designed exclusively for existing women customers who are members of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) under the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM).

Aligned with the Government’s vision of creating ‘Lakhpati Didis’ and strengthening rural entrepreneurship, the Digi Shrestha scheme aims to promote digital banking adoption while ensuring quick, transparent and hassle-free access to institutional credit.

Under the scheme, eligible women borrowers can avail loans of up to ₹5 lakh through a fully digital sanction and account opening process. The scheme features minimal documentation requirements and a simplified application journey, making credit access easier for rural women entrepreneurs.

By leveraging technology-driven banking solutions, PNB aims to strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem in rural India, support women-led enterprises and expand financial inclusion.

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the bank also celebrated the resilience, ambition and leadership of women across the country, reiterating its commitment to support them at every step of their growth journey.
