Public Sector Undertakings Celebrate 77th Republic Day with Patriotic Fervour and Grandeur
CCL, NTPC Bongaigaon and BCCL showcase operational excellence, sustainability milestones and nation-building commitment

Public Sector Undertakings across the country marked the 77th Republic Day with enthusiasm and pride, with Central Coalfields Limited (CCL), NTPC Bongaigaon and Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) hosting grand ceremonies highlighting operational excellence, sustainability and nation-building efforts.
At Central Coalfields Limited, CMD Nilendu Kumar Singh hoisted the National Flag at Mahatma Gandhi Stadium, Gandhinagar, and inspected a ceremonial parade by CISF, CCL security personnel and school students. Addressing employees, he underlined CCL’s role in India’s energy security, announcing key project milestones including readiness of the Chandragupta Opencast Project (15 MTPA) and commencement of the Kotre-Basantpur-Pachmo Project (5 MTPA) later this year. He highlighted CCL’s green initiatives, including nearly 11 million trees planted, progress toward 425 MW solar capacity, and CSR spending exceeding ₹50 crore.

NTPC Bongaigaon, NTPC’s flagship station in the North-East, celebrated Republic Day with flag hoisting by Arnab Maitra, Head of Project. He said the station generated 3,630.6 MU as on January 23, 2026, with a Declared Capacity of 97.01%, the highest among NTPC stations. The plant also achieved record ash utilisation of 123% and recognised outstanding employees and security personnel during the ceremony.

Meanwhile, BCCL held celebrations at Coal Bhawan and Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Jialgora, where CMD Shri Manoj Kumar Agarwal unfurled the tricolour and reviewed the parade. He highlighted BCCL’s leadership in coking coal production, expansion from 24.67 MT in FY21 to 40.50 MT in FY25, growing solar capacity, and wide-ranging CSR initiatives. Cultural performances by school students, CISF demonstrations and martial arts displays added vibrancy to the event.

The celebrations across CCL, NTPC Bongaigaon and BCCL reflected the public sector’s shared commitment to operational excellence, sustainability and India’s continued progress.
