Yogi Adityanath launches ‘School Chalo Abhiyan’ 2026-27 in Varanasi, urges zero dropout and universal enrolment
CM appeals to society to ensure every child attends school; highlights ₹80,000 crore education spend and sharp drop in dropout rates

Yogi Adityanath on Sunday launched the ‘School Chalo Abhiyan’ for the academic session 2026–27 in Varanasi, calling upon teachers, parents and all sections of society to ensure that no child is left out of school.

Launching the campaign at a Composite School in Shivpur Varunapar zone, the Chief Minister emphasized that education is the most sacred responsibility and urged collective participation to achieve 100% enrolment and zero dropout rate.

In a heartwarming gesture, the Chief Minister personally served mid-day meals to children, encouraging them with the message: “Roj School Aana” (Come to school every day).
He also distributed:
- School bags
- Textbooks
- Learning kits
- Gifts and chocolates
Children from Classes 1 to 8 received these items, with their cheerful smiles adding warmth to the event.
Recognition for ‘NIPUN’ Schools and Students

The Chief Minister felicitated five ‘NIPUN’ schools and awarded certificates to meritorious students demonstrating foundational literacy and numeracy excellence under the NIPUN Bharat Mission.
A booklet titled ‘Shaikshik Navachar Evem Uplabdhiyan’ was also released, and a short film on the campaign was screened during the programme.

- Ensure 100% enrolment during April 1–15 campaign period
- Engage parents and spread awareness about government facilities
DBT Benefits & Student Support
The Chief Minister reiterated that:
- Students receive free uniforms, books, shoes, bags, and sweaters
- ₹1200 assistance is provided via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT)
- Funds will be transferred in phases on April 15 and July 15
Education Reforms & Infrastructure Boost
The Chief Minister noted significant improvements since 2017:
- Schools now have separate toilets for boys and girls
- Drinking water facilities ensured
- Expansion of Kasturba Gandhi schools up to Class 12
- Establishment of Atal Residential Schools for underprivileged children

CM Yogi praised the District Magistrate of Chitrakoot for enrolling his own child in an Anganwadi centre, calling it a model example for society.

Boost for Teachers & Staff
- Honorarium increased to:
- ₹17,000 for instructors
- ₹18,000 for Shikshamitras
- ₹5 lakh cashless health insurance for teachers, instructors, and cooks
