SCOPE Welcomes Implementation of Four Labour Codes by Government of India
The reforms aim to protect the interests of workers across both formal and informal sectors

The Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) has welcomed the Government of India’s landmark move to implement the four Labour Codes, calling it a historic step toward simplifying, rationalizing, and modernizing the country’s labour regulatory framework.
Atul Sobti, Director General, SCOPE, applauded the decision and stated, “SCOPE remains committed to supporting PSEs in ensuring smooth and effective implementation. The Labour Codes will significantly contribute in building Viksit & Aatmanirbhar Bharat, ensuring that India’s economic growth remains inclusive, equitable, and future ready.”
SCOPE has actively participated in various consultations and stakeholder engagements throughout the formulation of the Labour Codes, providing critical insights from the public sector and extending consistent support to the government’s comprehensive labour reforms agenda.
The four Labour Codes—Code on Wages, Industrial Relations Code, Code on Social Security, and Occupational Safety, Health & Working Conditions (OSHWC) Code—are expected to deliver transformative changes across India’s labour landscape. The reforms aim to protect the interests of workers across both formal and informal sectors, expand social security coverage, enhance workplace safety, promote gender equality, and create an enabling environment for industry and employment growth.
These progressive changes reflect the government’s commitment to social justice, inclusive development, and a modern, future-ready labour ecosystem.
