154th Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti Celebrated At RINL

Shri Atul Bhatt, CMD, RINL Launches month-long SWACHHATA 3.0 special campaign

RINL, the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant joined the Nation in celebrating the “Father of the Nation” Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti in Ukkunagaram today.

Shri Atul Bhatt, CMD, RINL garlanded the statue of Mahatma Gandhi alongwith Directors, senior officials, unions and associations and paid rich tributes in Mahatma Gandhi Park in Sector-8 of ukkunagaram township of Visakhapatnam steel plant.

Paying rich tributes to Mahatma Gandhi, Shri Atul Bhatt said that “The UN General Assembly proclaimed this day as the “International Day of Non-Violence” in Mahatma Gandhi’s honor because he provided the world a potent weapon of “non-violence” for combat.”

Today, on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanthi, the Swachhta Campaign 3.0 was launched by Shri Atul Bhatt, CMD, RINL by administering Swachhta Pledge by all. As per the directives of Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances, Ministry of Personnel Public Grievances and Pensions, Government of India, Special Swachhta Campaign 3.0 is being organised at RINL from 2nd October 2023 to 31st October 2023.

During the Swachhta Campaign 3.0, special focus is to be given on space management, scrap disposal, record management, disposal of pending matters etc. A month-long activities like mega cleaning campaigns in different areas throughout RINL including its outstation offices of Mines and Marketing will be taken up. Bala Swachhta Jagruthi – an awareness program on ‘Personal Hygiene’ for school children, Parivarthana – an awareness program on ‘Menstrual Hygiene’ to girl students of high schools, Distribution of cloth bags, etc. have been planned during the campaign.

Addressing the gathering Shri Atul Bhatt said that “Mahatma Gandhi’s teachings of Non-Violence, Ahimsa, Truth etc. are highly essential in today’s world. Gandhiji dwelt on cleanliness and good habits and pointed out its close relationship to good health.” “Hon’ble Prime Minister of India announced Swachhta Campaign on 2nd Oct 2014, in line with announcement RINL has been taking up swachhta activities throughout the year and RINL was awarded “Swachhta Puraskar-1st prize at National level” in 2021 for its commitment towards swachhta.” Sri Atul Bhatt said amidst thunderous applause by the audience.

Highlighting various Swachhta activities carried out by RINL during the fortnight 15 Sep 2023 to 30th Sep 2023 with the theme “Garbage free India”, Shri Atul Bhatt said that RINL has transformed Aganampudi walker’s park at Vizag as a plastic free park by taking up a “Mega Cleaning Campaign” on 1st October, 2023 wherein more than 250 persons from various walks of life voluntarily participated.

Referring to Mahatma Gandhi’s quote “The future depends on what you do today”, Shri Atul Bhatt, CMD said that the quote is very much relevant to RINL at this juncture. “At present RINL is on the verge of recovery, if we put little bit of extra effort in our day-to-day work, RINL is going to turn around very soon and sustain in years to come” Shri Atul Bhatt added.

As part of the Mahatma Gandhi Jayanthi, recitals from Bhagavad Gita, Quran, Buddha Pravachanam, Bible were rendered on the occasion. Members of Visteel Mahila Samithi sang devotional bhajans on the occasion.

In line with the communication received from Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances, Ministry of Personnel Public Grievances and Pensions, Govt of India, Shri Atul Bhatt, CMD, RINL launched Special Swachta Campaign 3.0 today which will be organised at RINL from 2nd October 2023 to 31st October 2023.

Later, Shri Atul Bhatt, CMD, RINL presented the Swachhta Puraskars 2023 to 12 Award winning Departments namely., CO & CCP, Blast Furnace, SMS-1, SBM, DNW, ERS, ES & F, ETL, PPM, Traffic, L & DC and Town administration of RINL for their outstanding Swachhta activities in their respective working areas.

Shri A.K. Bagchi, Director (Projects) and additional charge Director (Operations), Dr SC Pandey, Director (Personnel) and additional charge Director (Finance), Chief general managers, senior officials, members of Visteel Mahila Samithi, representatives of SEA, Union leaders, SC&ST association, representatives of Women in Public Sector and employees participated and also offered floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi.
