54th National Safety Day Celebrated At RINL
Prizes were given away by dignitaries to departments which excelled in Safety performance and housekeeping and winners of various competitions

RINL, the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant observed the 54th National Safety Day at the Multi-purpose hall of Ukku club of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant- RINL, today. The theme of 54th National Safety Day celebration was “Safety and Well-Being Are Crucial for Vikasit Bharat”
The Chief Guest Ajit Kumar Saxena, CMD Addl. Charge -RINL along with the Guest of honour Siva Sankar Reddy Garu, Joint Chief Inspector of Factories , Govt. of AP and other Directors of RINL inaugurated the National safety celebrations by lighting the traditional lamp.

The Dignitaries administrated a safety pledge to everyone present there to dedicate themselves for the cause of safety and health of all employees and to adhere to safety rules, so as not to endanger human life, and to protect the plant, equipment – machinery from damages.
Addressing the gathering, Ajit Kumar Saxena, emphasized the importance of safety in industrial operations, highlighting that safety is not just a compliance requirement but a core value that ensures the well-being of employees and the sustainability of the organization. Shri Ajit Kumar Saxena urged all employees to move from the “Culture of reaction to the culture of Prevention”. Ajit Kumar Saxena exhorted everyone to follow the principle of “Safety is My Responsibility”.

Speaking on the occasion, Siva Sankar Reddy, JCI of Factories, Govt. of AP, said that Safety is very crucial for overall economic development of the Nation. A safe practice ensures less damages & hence minimizes loss of life and property. Emphasizing on this year’s theme “Safety and Well-Being Are Crucial for Vikasit Bharat”, Shri Siva Sankar Reddy called upon everyone to improve their attitude and behavior to suit the needs of safe practices in industry, on road and at home.
The 54th National Safety Day celebration began with Safety Skit performance by students from Shrusti World School sighting the example of Bhopal gas Tragedy and highlighted the crucial role of safety in industries.

As part of the National safety celebrations 2025, Safety Engineering Department of RINL conducted special safety awareness activities and competitions on various aspects connected with safety among the school children, contract workers and employees. A large number of employees actively took part in making the short films to highlight various aspects of safety.

Earlier in the morning, R Mohanty, Chief General Manager(Works)-Incharge hoisted the Safety Flag at ED (Works) building of RINL and said that promoting health and safety of all employees is of utmost importance for RINL management.
AK Bagchi, Director (Projects) and Addl. Charge Director (Operations), Shri S C Pandey, Director (Personnel) and Ch.S.R.V.G.K Ganesh, Director (Finance), Shri GVN Prasad, Director (Commercial), Chief General Managers, Heads of the Departments, Senior Executives, Members from Steel Executives’ Association, Trade Unions, SC & ST Association, OBC Association, WIPS, School Children and teachers actively participated in the National Safety Day celebrations.
