KIIT & KISS: The Preferred Venue For Top Sporting Events

With its world-class sports infrastructure, KIIT and KISS have emerged as a premier venue for hosting major national and international sporting events. Their exceptional facilities, all within a single complex, have attracted prestigious tournaments across multiple disciplines.
Among the landmark international events hosted at KIIT-KISS are the World Junior Chess Championship (2016), T-20 Blind Cricket World Cup (India vs. New Zealand) in 2017, Asian Cities Chess Championship (2017), Asian Petanque Championship (2018), and the International University Bilateral Cricket Series between India and Australia (2024). KIIT-KISS was also a chosen venue for FIFA Football For Schools (2021).

A major highlight was the first-ever Khelo India University Games in 2020, which brought together over 4,000 athletes and 1,000 officials from nearly 200 universities. Spanning 17 disciplines, the event was a grand success, showcasing the top-tier sporting infrastructure of KIIT-KISS.
The institutions have also hosted Ranji Trophy matches, the National Open Athletics Championship, and the All India Forest Sports Meet. Another milestone event in 2023 was the first Janjatiya Khel Mahotsav, organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India and the Odisha Government.

Aimed at promoting sports among tribal communities, the event saw participation from over 5,000 athletes and 1,000 officials representing 26 states.
Additionally, KIIT has been hosting the prestigious KIIT International Chess Festival since 2010. Now ranked among Asia’s top four Grandmaster Chess Tournaments, it attracts grandmasters, international masters and emerging chess talents from around the world. The 14th edition in 2023 saw participation from over 1,200 competitors from 20 countries, including 14 grandmasters and 50 international masters, with a total prize fund of ₹32 lakh.
