Uttarakhand CM Dhami Meets Union Civil Aviation Minister : Discusses Boost To Uttarakhand’s Air Connectivity

The Union Minister assured the Chief Minister of positive action on all the proposals

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami met Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu on Tuesday to discuss the development of Uttarakhand’s aviation infrastructure and its role in boosting tourism and regional connectivity.

Key proposals and requests made by CM Dhami include:

  • Pantnagar Airport Expansion: Requested immediate commencement of work to extend the runway from 1,372 meters to 3,000 meters. A total of 524.78 acres has already been transferred to the Airports Authority of India.
  • Jolly Grant Airport (Dehradun): Requested expansion and extension of night operations until midnight to increase passenger capacity.

Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS – Udaan):

  • Start regular flights from Naini Saini Airport (Pithoragarh) to Delhi.
  • Initiate air services from Pithoragarh to Dharchula and Pithoragarh to Munsyari.
  • Extend watch hours at Naini Saini for potential night operations.

New Air Routes Proposed:

  • Dehradun-Haldwani
  • Dehradun-Pantnagar
  • Dehradun-Nagpur

International Connectivity:

  • Requested initiation of international air services from Jolly Grant Airport.
  • Promotion of Local Products: Requested the opening of ‘House of Himalayas’ stalls at Dehradun, Pantnagar, and Pithoragarh airports to showcase local goods.

Chinyalisaur and Gauchar Airstrips:

  • Requested inspection and activation of air services at these remote locations.

The Union Minister assured the Chief Minister of positive action on all the proposals.
