Uttarakhand Aims To Become Defence And Drone Manufacturing Hub: CM Dhami

State's new industrial policies give special emphasis to defense production and tech innovation, said the Chief Minister

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to transforming Uttarakhand into a leading hub for defense and drone manufacturing. Speaking at the Surya Drone Tech 2025 event held at Jaswant Ground, Dehradun Cantonment, CM Dhami emphasized the strategic importance of drone technology, especially in disaster-prone regions like Uttarakhand.

The two-day exhibition, organized by the Central Command of the Indian Army in collaboration with the Society of Indian Defense Manufacturers (SIDM), showcased cutting-edge indigenous drone technologies aligned with India’s military needs and the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.

“Drone technology is proving to be a boon for disaster relief operations in a geographically sensitive state like Uttarakhand,” the Chief Minister said. “We are not only aiming to create a pool of drone experts among our youth but also promote innovation for both defense and civilian applications.”

CM Dhami added that the state’s new industrial policies give special emphasis to defense production and tech innovation. Events like Surya Drone Tech 2025, he said, are vital for inspiring youth, startups, and MSMEs to contribute to technological advancement.

Highlighting India’s growing self-reliance in defense, Dhami praised the central leadership under Prime Minister Narendra Modi for encouraging innovation in military technology. He called drone technology a transformative force, bringing change across sectors from security and education to agriculture and disaster management.

The event saw participation from Indian Army personnel, SIDM members, defense startups, drone experts, MSMEs, NCC cadets, and school students.
