THDCIL Celebrates 38th Foundation Day, Reaffirms Commitment To Nation-Building And Energy Excellence

From India’s first variable speed PSP to Khurja Thermal Plant, THDCIL showcases major strides in power sector transformation

THDC India Limited (THDCIL), a leading Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) in the power sector, celebrated its 38th Foundation Day with great enthusiasm and pride at its Corporate Office in Rishikesh and across all its project sites and unit offices nationwide. The occasion marked not just another year in the organization’s journey since its inception in 1988, but also stood as a celebration of historic achievements that significantly expanded THDCIL’s energy portfolio and reinforced its commitment to sustainability and nation-building.

The celebrations began with a flag hoisting ceremony by Chairman and Managing Director R.K. Vishnoi, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp along with Director (Personnel) Shailendra Singh, Director (Technical) Bhupender Gupta, and Director (Finance) Sipun Kumar Garg. A grand event was held at the Rasmanjari Hall in Rishikesh, where employees and their families participated with full enthusiasm.

In his address, Mr. Vishnoi emphasized that the Foundation Day is not only a celebration of the organization’s rich legacy, but also a reaffirmation of THDCIL’s strategic vision aligned with India’s net-zero commitments, energy security goals, and aspirations for nation-building. He acknowledged the exceptional role of human resources behind every success of the company and appreciated the dedication of employees and their families. He also lauded the visionary leadership and commitment of THDCIL’s Board of Directors for the company’s ongoing transformation and achievements.

A key highlight of the event was the presentation of the prestigious “Naman Award” to former CMD D.V. Singh for his visionary leadership and lifelong dedication to the organization’s growth. The “Gaurav Award” was conferred on Neeraj Verma (ED I/C), A.K. Ghildiyal (ED-APP), Ajay Verma (CGM-VPHEP), Ajay Kumar Garg (CGM-Finance), and Dr. A.N. Tripathi (CGM-HR/Admin & Corporate Communications) for their outstanding contributions.

Meritorious employees across various levels were felicitated for their dedication and performance. In the Executive category, awards were given to Ashutosh Kumar Anand (DGM), Samrat Mukherjee, Rakesh Bansal, Mayank Bajpai, Nayan Ratudi (Manager), Balwant Singh, Prakash Kumar Sahu (Dy. Manager), and Mayank Chauhan (Asst. Manager). In the Supervisor category, Triveni Singh Ghanata (Jr. Executive) and Yogesh Chandra Joshi (Jr. Engineer) were honored. In the Workmen category, Sudarshan Biswal (Asst. Officer), Rohtas Singh (Helper), and Deepak Shah (Asst.) were awarded for their dedication and perseverance.

Highlighting THDCIL’s recent accomplishments, Vishnoi praised the successful commissioning of the first and second units (250 MW each) of the 1,000 MW Variable Speed Pumped Storage Plant (PSP) at Tehri, Uttarakhand – featuring India’s first variable speed turbine and the largest of its kind among any CPSU. He also mentioned the commissioning of Unit-1 (660 MW) of the 1,320 MW Khurja Super Thermal Power Project in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, dedicated to the nation by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. These milestones signify THDCIL’s commitment to grid flexibility, renewable integration, and meeting India’s growing power demand.
