Uttarakhand CM Dhami Meets PM Modi, Seeks Support For Major Developmental Projects

PM Modi assured Chief Minister Dhami of all possible support from the Central Government

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the national capital, seeking guidance and support on various key developmental initiatives for the state. The Chief Minister expressed his gratitude to the Central Government for its consistent cooperation in advancing Uttarakhand’s growth and reiterated the state’s commitment to contributing meaningfully to the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 under the leadership of the Prime Minister.

Lauding the international recognition accorded to the Prime Minister, CM Dhami said that all Indians are proud of the fact that 27 countries have conferred their highest civilian awards on Shri Narendra Modi. As a token of respect and cultural pride, the Chief Minister presented the Prime Minister with a replica of the Kartik Swami Temple, a coffee table book on the Adi Kailash Yatra, and a curated selection of local Uttarakhand products including Kanar ghee from Dharchula, red rice from Purola, Basmati rice, black cumin, Gandh Rain, Jambu, and organic honey.

During the meeting, CM Dhami made several important requests:

  • CSR Funding for Spiritual Corridors: He urged the Prime Minister to direct concerned departments to facilitate funding through CSR channels for infrastructure development in the Haridwar Ganga Corridor, Rishikesh Ganga Corridor, and Sharda Corridor in Champawat, similar to the Kedarnath and Badrinath Dham masterplans.
  • Semiconductor Hub Proposal: The Chief Minister proposed developing Nepa Farm in Udham Singh Nagar as a semiconductor hub, and requested central support to establish semiconductor industries in the region.
  • Transport Infrastructure: He called for the extension of the Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) up to Haridwar and sought provisions for road construction along the Tanakpur–Bageshwar and Rishikesh–Uttarkashi rail lines.
  • Nanda Raj Jat Yatra 2026: Informing the Prime Minister about the upcoming Nanda Raj Jat Yatra in August 2026, dubbed the Maha Kumbh of the Mountains, the Chief Minister invited the Prime Minister to attend the event. He also requested ₹400 crore in central funding to develop eco-friendly infrastructure to support the massive pilgrimage.
  • Haridwar Maha Kumbh 2027: Highlighting the extensive preparations underway, CM Dhami sought ₹3,500 crore for infrastructure upgrades in Haridwar, including bridge repairs, parking, sanitation, power, water supply, and transport facilities for the 2027 Maha Kumbh.
  • Underground Power Network: The Chief Minister requested swift approval of the ₹1,015 crore Detailed Project Report (DPR) for undergrounding HT and LT power lines and automating the power system in Haridwar and Rishikesh under the RDSS scheme.
  • Restoration of Chaurasi Kutiya: Emphasizing the cultural and spiritual significance of Chaurasi Kutiya near Rishikesh, CM Dhami urged for approval from the National Wildlife Board to restore the site to its former glory. He mentioned that funds have already been arranged for the project.
  • Pindar–Kosi Link Project: CM Dhami detailed a preliminary proposal to link snow-fed rivers like the Pindar with rain-fed rivers like Kosi, Gagas, Gomti, and Garud. He said the project would benefit over 2 lakh people in 625 villages and improve water supply in several towns across Bageshwar, Almora, and Nainital districts. He urged the Centre to include the project under a special scheme.
  • Hydropower Projects: The Chief Minister also sought clearance for five hydropower projects with a combined capacity of 596 MW, in line with the recommendations of a committee led by the Cabinet Secretary of the Government of India.

The Prime Minister took keen interest in the detailed updates shared by the Chief Minister regarding Chardham Yatra, Adi Kailash Yatra, Nanda Raj Jat Yatra, the upcoming Haridwar Kumbh, and the ongoing implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission in the state.

PM Modi assured Chief Minister Dhami of all possible support from the Central Government for the overall development and progress of Uttarakhand.
