Uttarakhand CM Directs Immediate Assistance and Rehabilitation in Tharali Disaster-Affected Areas
CM instructed officials to ensure quick drainage of water from Syana Chatti and to make the best possible arrangements for the homeless

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, while reviewing the Tharali (Chamoli) disaster relief operations at the State Disaster Operations Center on Saturday night, issued several important directives to ensure rapid relief and rehabilitation for affected families.
The Chief Minister directed the immediate release of ₹5 lakh assistance to families whose houses have been damaged, as well as ₹5 lakh ex-gratia to the kin of the deceased.
He instructed officials to ensure quick drainage of water from Syana Chatti and to make the best possible arrangements for the homeless, along with speeding up rehabilitation work.
CM Dhami emphasized that relief materials should reach affected families promptly and directed that all essentials, including electricity, water, and road connectivity, be restored at the earliest. He also stressed maintaining quality in distribution of ration and other supplies.
While praising Chamoli District Magistrate for prompt action and effective disaster management in Tharali, the Chief Minister also commended SDRF and NDRF teams for their efficient rescue and relief operations.
In view of the orange weather alert for the next two days, CM Dhami directed all District Magistrates to remain fully prepared with disaster management equipment and materials at sensitive locations.
The Chief Minister further announced the constitution of a committee of experts and scientists from reputed agencies to study the recurring disaster patterns in Dharali, Saiji (Pauri), and Dharali, and to submit a detailed report.
The review meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Anand Vardhan, Principal Secretaries R.K. Sudhanshu, R. Meenakshi Sundaram, Shailesh Bagauli, along with all District Magistrates, including those of Chamoli and Uttarkashi, through virtual mode.
