PM Modi reaches Kashi for bilateral talks with the Prime Minister of Mauritius

UP Governor and CM Yogi Welcome Prime Minister in Kashi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached his Kashi on Thursday to hold bilateral talks with the Prime Minister of Mauritius. Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath welcomed him upon his arrival at Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport. From the airport, the Prime Minister flew by helicopter to the Police Line, and from there proceeded in a grand convoy towards the Taj Hotel.

On his route, BJP workers and the people of Kashi gave him a rousing welcome—showering flowers, blowing conches, chanting Har Har Mahadev, and displaying placards that read “GST – Thank You”. This was Modi’s first visit to Varanasi after the GST reforms, and BJP workers expressed their gratitude by lining the roads in large numbers.

Artists also performed cultural programs at various locations, turning the entire stretch from Police Line to Taj Hotel into a festive spectacle. Six welcome stages were set up where petals were showered on the Prime Minister, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of a road show. At several points, including Kachheri and Ambedkar Chauraha, cultural programs like folk dances were organized. Modi acknowledged the greetings of the people by waving from his convoy.

People of Kashi and BJP workers lined the route

Women BJP workers, office bearers, and residents thronged the roadside to cheer their MP and Prime Minister. Monks and devotees welcomed him with conches, while BJP supporters added to the fervor with drums and slogans. Kashi echoed with chants of Har Har Mahadev, as flowers rained on the Prime Minister’s cavalcade.

Mauritius PM already in Kashi

Mauritius Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam had reached Varanasi on Wednesday with his delegation. On Thursday evening, he will witness the Ganga Aarti from a cruise, followed by a visit to Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple on the morning of 12 September. Thereafter, he will proceed to Ayodhya.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath welcomed the Prime Minister on social media, posting on X:

“A warm welcome and greetings to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his New Kashi, a confluence of spirituality and modernity.”
