SECL Honours 75 Coal Workers on PM’s Birthday and Vishwakarma Jayanti
Swachhata Pledge administered under Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign 2025

South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), a flagship subsidiary of Coal India Limited, celebrated the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Vishwakarma Jayanti by felicitating 75 coal mining workers with the SECL Vishwakarma Awards at its headquarters in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh.
The first edition of the Vishwakarma Awards honoured workers from mining operations, maintenance, supervisory, and allied roles for their grit, dedication, and exemplary service in SECL mines.
Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs, Tokhan Sahu, graced the event as the Chief Guest, while MLA (Beltara) Sushant Shukla attended as the Guest of Honour. The ceremony was presided over by Harish Duhan, CMD, SECL, in the presence of Functional Directors, trade union representatives, HoDs, officers, and employees.
In his address, Tokhan Sahu praised SECL’s initiative to institute the Vishwakarma Awards on this auspicious occasion, coinciding with the Prime Minister’s birthday.
Marking the event, dignitaries planted saplings under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign, followed by the administration of the Swachhata Pledge, launching the Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign 2025 across SECL headquarters and operational areas.
To further commemorate the day, SECL organised a special campaign — “SECL-17: Vishwakarma Seva Sankalp” — across its ten operational districts in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. The campaign included 17 worker welfare activities such as health camps, blood donation drives, safety and vigilance awareness sessions, financial and digital literacy workshops, plantation drives, and de-addiction awareness programmes.
Through these initiatives, SECL reaffirmed its commitment to worker welfare, sustainable mining practices, and community development.
