HCL and OIL Join Hands for Exploration of Critical and Strategic Minerals
This partnership is expected to play a pivotal role in securing resources crucial for India’s industrial development, clean energy transition, and long-term mineral security

In a strategic move to strengthen India’s self-reliance in sourcing critical and strategic minerals, Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL) and Oil India Limited (OIL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today in New Delhi. The collaboration aims at exploration and development of copper and associated minerals, vital for energy security and technological growth.
HCL, a Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Mines, is engaged in mining, production, processing, and marketing of copper and its products. OIL, a Maharatna PSU under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, has expanded beyond its core energy portfolio by diversifying into the critical minerals sector.

The MoU was exchanged in the presence of Sanjiv Kumar Singh, CMD, HCL, and Dr. Ranjit Rath, CMD, OIL, along with senior officials from both companies.
This partnership, aligned with the National Critical Mineral Mission, is expected to play a pivotal role in securing resources crucial for India’s industrial development, clean energy transition, and long-term mineral security.
