NCL Observes “Swachhata Hi Seva” Campaign with Vigour
Promotes Hygiene, Sustainability and Community Awareness across Singrauli Coalfields

Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), the Singrauli-based flagship subsidiary of Coal India Limited, is enthusiastically observing the “Swachhata Hi Seva” campaign from 17th September to 2nd October 2025 with a wide spectrum of activities promoting cleanliness, hygiene, and environmental sustainability.

As part of the drive, NCL has launched several initiatives such as cleanliness awareness programs, cleaning of public places, identification and upkeep of CTU sites, Safai Mitra Suraksha Shivir, beautification of eco-tourism and religious spots, office cleanliness campaigns, plantation drives under “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam Abhiyaan”, Thank You Safai Mitra program, Swachhata Pathshala, Swachhata Samvad, and creative competitions including rangoli, essay writing, painting, slogan writing, and more.
Key Highlights of NCL’s Swachhata Initiatives
- Community Outreach & Sapling Distribution: The Jayant Area organized Swachhata Samvad and awareness programs, distributing 1,000 saplings under “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam Abhiyaan” to promote environmental sustainability.
- Youth Engagement: Jayant Area also held a painting competition and Swachhata Rally where school students conveyed messages of hygiene and cleanliness through artwork and public campaigns.
- Safai Mitra Suraksha Shivir: Jhingurda and Block-B Areas conducted health check-up camps for sanitation workers, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Swachhata Pledge: At DAV School, Dudhichua Area, more than 1,500 students pledged to uphold cleanliness and spread awareness among peers.
- Creative Competitions: Amlohri, Block-B, and Dudhichua Areas hosted Swachhotsav-themed contests where students promoted the idea of clean and green festivals through innovative artwork.
- Special Drive “Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath”: NCL employees and local residents actively participated in voluntary shramdaan, reinforcing the spirit of collective responsibility towards cleanliness.
Additionally, NCL has installed Swachhata Selfie Stands to encourage employees and the public to share their commitment to the cause of a clean India.

By combining community outreach, student participation, employee involvement, and sustainable practices, NCL is ensuring that the “Swachhata Hi Seva” campaign goes beyond a symbolic exercise, making a tangible impact on society and the environment.
