Rajeev Verma Appointed as New Chief Secretary of Delhi

Verma is at present serving as Chief Secretary of Chandigarh

The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has appointed senior IAS officer Rajeev Verma (AGMUT:1992) as the new Chief Secretary of the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCTD).

According to the official order issued by the ministry, Verma will assume charge with effect from October 1, 2025, or from the date of his joining, whichever is later.

Verma, a 1992-batch IAS officer of the Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territory (AGMUT) cadre, is presently serving as the Chief Secretary of Chandigarh. His transfer to Delhi has been cleared by the competent authority and was notified through Kartavya Bhawan, New Delhi.

With decades of administrative experience, Verma’s appointment comes at a crucial juncture for the national capital, as the Delhi administration is currently dealing with several governance, infrastructure, and policy challenges.
