Mitsubishi Corporation Acquires Stake in KIS Group to Enter Global Biogas Market
Till date, KIS has developed several BioMethane and renewable gas projects across 11 countries

KIS Group, a global leader in biogas and biofuels technology, has announced that Mitsubishi Corporation, one of Japan’s largest integrated business enterprises, has acquired a minority equity stake in its Indonesia operations. This marks Mitsubishi Corporation’s first-ever entry into the global biogas sector.
Founded by K.R. Raghunath in 2006, KIS Group operates across 11 countries including India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, USA, UAE, Brazil, Colombia, Qatar, and Spain. The company provides end-to-end renewable energy solutions across industries such as palm oil, sugar, dairy, paper, distilleries, and agro-processing.
With Mitsubishi Corporation’s strategic backing, KIS Group aims to invest USD 1 billion in renewable gas and biofuel projects across Southeast Asia, India, and Europe by 2030, while expanding into North & South America and European markets over the next five years.
Till date, KIS has developed several BioMethane and renewable gas projects across 11 countries and has signed long-term biomethane supply contracts with major corporations such as Unilever and Shell. The company is also collaborating with Toyota, Godrej, Sinarmas, Banas Dairy, and Maruti Suzuki, among others.
The collaboration will leverage Mitsubishi Corporation’s presence across 90+ countries to accelerate international expansion and co-develop advanced biogas, BioCNG, and BioLNG solutions. This partnership will also help embed global best practices for efficiency, scalability, and governance, strengthen supply chain resilience, and support shared ESG goals in low-carbon energy transition.
