Delhi CM Rekha Gupta, MoS Finance Pankaj Choudhary & DFS Secretary M. Nagaraju Address ‘Aapki Poonji Aapka Adhikar’ Mega Camp in New Delhi

Chief Minister of Delhi Rekha Gupta, Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Choudhary, and DFS Secretary M. Nagaraju today addressed a large gathering at the ‘Aapki Poonji Aapka Adhikar – Your Money Your Right’ Mega Camp held at the Dr. Ambedkar International Center, Janpath. The event aimed at strengthening financial awareness, access, and empowerment for citizens, with a special focus on facilitating claims related to unclaimed financial assets.
Organised by the State Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC) Delhi under the aegis of the Department of Financial Services (DFS), Ministry of Finance, the Mega Camp witnessed active participation from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), IRDAI, SEBI, IEPFA, and PFRDA, along with public and private sector banks and insurance companies.
CM Rekha Gupta: “Every Rupee Must Return to Its Citizen”
Delhi CM Rekha Gupta said the initiative aligns with Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of ensuring financial empowerment for every citizen. She emphasized that increasing public trust in savings, digital payments, and government schemes has transformed financial behaviour nationwide.
She said, “Every rupee must return to its citizen. With the support of the Ministry and financial institutions, we are ensuring transparency and accessibility in reaching unclaimed assets to rightful owners.” The Chief Minister added that the campaign will continue until December 2025 and urged citizens to participate and enhance financial awareness.
MoS Finance Pankaj Choudhary underscored the government’s mission of leaving no citizen behind, crediting PM Narendra Modi’s governance model for major strides in financial inclusion.
- 57 crore Jan Dhan accounts, including 32 crore belonging to women, reflect massive progress in women-led empowerment.
- ₹45 lakh crore has been transferred directly to beneficiaries through DBT over the past 11 years.
He said these outcomes demonstrate the success of zero-balance accounts and transparency driven by digital systems.
DFS Secretary M. Nagaraju informed that the Mega Camp is part of a nationwide initiative covering 200 districts, with 102 more districts to be included shortly.
He highlighted key achievements:
- ₹1,800 crore worth of unclaimed assets settled in just two months.
- Citizens can verify unclaimed assets through:
- UDGAM (RBI) – unclaimed deposits
- Bima Bharosa (IRDAI) – insurance
- MITRA (SEBI) – mutual funds
He added that DFS and regulators are working on a single unified portal to facilitate seamless access to all categories of unclaimed financial assets.
PNB MD & CEO Ashok Chandra appreciated SLBC Delhi and participating institutions, stating:“It is encouraging to see all financial institutions unite for the ‘Aapki Poonji Aapka Adhikar’ campaign. Citizens must actively participate to make this initiative successful.”
Key Highlights From the Mega Camp
- 34 stalls from public/private banks, life and non-life insurers, and financial regulators.
- Participation from 46 member banks of SLBC Delhi.
- ₹2.50 crore disbursed to 60 account holders during the camp.
- ₹98 crore refunded to claimants in Delhi since 1 October 2025 — highest among all SLBCs.
- Over 800 citizens attended the Mega Camp.
Background of the Campaign
The nationwide campaign “Aapki Poonji Aapka Adhikar” was launched by Union Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman on 4 October 2025 in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. It focuses on helping citizens reclaim unclaimed bank deposits, insurance proceeds, dividends, shares, mutual funds, and other financial assets.
The initiative aims to ensure that citizens, their nominees, and legal heirs can access funds that rightfully belong to them.
