CMD BCCL Visits Karmatand Township, Interacts with Rehabilitated Families

CMD directed BCCL officials to maintain regular communication with relocated families and ensure time-bound resolution of complaints related to civic services

BCCL Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) Manoj Kumar Agrawal today visited Karmatand Township to assess on-ground conditions and interact with families rehabilitated under the revised Jharia Master Plan. The visit aimed to take stock of basic civic amenities and livelihood requirements of residents relocated from fire-affected areas.

CMD, accompanied by Director (HR) Murali Krishna Ramaiah and senior BCCL officials from Headquarters and the JMP Department, engaged directly with residents to understand their day-to-day challenges and expectations.

During interactions, the CMD sought detailed feedback on issues related to electricity supply, drinking water availability, road and sanitation infrastructure, community facilities, and livelihood opportunities. Taking note of the concerns and suggestions, Shri Agrawal instructed the concerned departments to implement necessary measures on priority and ensure continuous monitoring of all essential facilities.

Emphasising the importance of the rehabilitation project, Agrawal said: “Jharia Rehabilitation is one of the top priority projects of the Government of India. As per recent guidance from Coal Secretary Vikram Dev Dutt and Coal India Chairman Sanoj Kumar Jha, BCCL is fully committed to developing Karmatand and Belgadia as model rehabilitation townships. Ensuring proper development of Karmatand is among our foremost priorities, and we are consistently working to improve roads, water supply, healthcare, public utilities and livelihood opportunities for rehabilitated families.”

He further directed BCCL officials to maintain regular communication with relocated families and ensure time-bound resolution of complaints related to civic services.

Senior officials present during the inspection included General Manager (JMP) Rajiv Chopra, General Manager (Civil) Suman Kumar, General Manager (E&M) I.P. Singh, General Manager (Estate) Nandlal Agarwal, and Additional GM (Lodna) Parvez Alam, along with officers and employees from BCCL Headquarters and area units.
